Your daily dose of skin comfort.

Juliette Schreiner
Your daily dose of skin comfort.

Sometimes your skin just needs a little more. More nourishment, more moisture and that comfortable feeling that makes you ready to get on with your day.

That's what I wanted from the Wakey Locking Cream, Woody Citrus. A nourishing moisturiser that helps keep skin hydrated, soft and comfortable while protecting against dryness.

The formula combines five types of hyaluronic acid with squalane and nourishing butters. And with its lovely Woody Citrus scent, it makes the final step of your morning routine feel like a little moment of care.

Why it has a place in The Morning Skin Set

When choosing the products for Wakey, I wanted the routine to have a clear beginning, middle and end.

The Locking Cream is the final moisturising step. After cleansing, hydration and the lightweight care of the Protective Emulsion, it brings an additional layer of nourishment and helps protect against dryness.

The two products have complementary roles. The emulsion offers lightweight care with its marine algae complex, while the cream focuses on moisturising care, softness and comfort.

I don't believe everyone needs every skincare layer. But if your skin tends to feel dry or tight, a richer moisturiser can be a lovely way to finish your routine.

My kind of finishing touch

For me, the last step in a skincare routine has a practical job. I want my skin to feel comfortable as the day gets going, whether I'm wearing make-up or heading out with a bare face.

That's what I like about the Locking Cream. It brings hydration and softness, with a healthy-looking glow and a lovely Woody Citrus scent that makes the last step feel like a little finishing touch.

Useful, enjoyable and easy to make part of the everyday.

What's in your daily dose of comfort?

The formula contains 99.86% ingredients of natural origin.

Five types of hyaluronic acid

A combination of hyaluronic acid with different particle sizes helps hydrate the skin and support a soft, comfortable feel.

Squalane and nourishing butters

Squalane, Allanblackia butter and shea-derived ingredients help nourish and soften skin and protect against dryness.

Macroalgae extract

The manufacturer describes this ingredient as supporting the skin's natural defence mechanisms and providing soothing benefits.

The cream also contains fragrance. Woody Citrus brings together citrus notes with soft floral and woody notes.

How to use the Locking Cream

Apply a small amount to cleansed face and neck. Massage gently until absorbed.

In The Morning Skin Set, use it after the Protective Emulsion. You can then apply make-up if you wear it.

The Locking Cream does not contain SPF. For daytime sun protection, use a separate broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher, following its directions.

For external use only. Avoid contact with eyes.

Why I kept sun protection as a separate step

For me, straightforward skincare means being clear about what each product does. The Locking Cream moisturises and helps protect against dryness, but it doesn't provide sun protection.

I chose to keep SPF separate because the amount matters. You may apply just a small amount of moisturiser, but effective sun protection requires applying enough sunscreen to achieve the SPF stated on the label. I don't want anyone to assume their skin is protected simply because they've applied their cream.

That's why I prefer to keep the steps distinct: moisturiser for hydration and comfort, followed by a separate broad-spectrum sunscreen of SPF 30 or higher. When outdoors, reapply every two hours and after swimming or sweating, following the product's instructions.

It's not that moisturisers with SPF can't work. I simply wanted to give sun protection its own attention in the Wakey routine.

A few good questions

What does a face moisturiser do?

A moisturiser helps keep skin hydrated, soft and comfortable. The Wakey Locking Cream also nourishes and helps protect against dryness.

Is the Locking Cream suitable for dry skin?

The formula contains hyaluronic acid, squalane and nourishing butters to help hydrate, soften and protect against dryness. It can be a lovely option when your skin needs extra moisturising care.

Can I use the Locking Cream on its own?

Yes. Apply it to cleansed skin as part of your own routine. You don't need the complete Morning Skin Set to use the cream.

Can I wear it under make-up?

Yes. The manufacturer describes it as suitable under make-up. The result can still vary depending on the make-up products you use.

Is the Locking Cream fragrance free?

No. The Locking Cream contains fragrance with a Woody Citrus scent.

A little more comfort. A lot of good care.

A nourishing finish after your morning skincare, or moisturising care in a simpler routine. Follow with sunscreen for daytime sun protection.
